Comprehensive Aesthetic Medical Services

Comprehensive Aesthetic Medical Services

The media have influenced our society in its perception of beauty and attractiveness. The society’s idea of beauty evolved with time, and today it values youth and natural beauty. Not everyone is blessed with a harmonious face and body that represent the current beauty concept, but the development of aesthetic plastic surgery is helping those unsatisfied with their appearance.

An important note to make is that cosmetic care will not increase one’s self esteem and happiness. It is, however, when done with realistic expectations, can enhance the natural looks and improve self-image. Cosmetic care provider should be able to advice patients to decide the best method of aesthetic care that match to their needs.

A plastic surgeon is a specialized physician, trained to have a holistic approach of a patient, considering all the physical, pschycological and even social aspect of a procedure before continuing with the treatment. Therefore making it possible for them to choose a more appropriate treatment choice.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, cosmetic medical procedures are divided into four levels:

                          Noninvasive

                        Minimally invasive

                        Moderately invasive

                        Surgical

Each level has its benefits and limitations, therefore the four of them should be considered as a continuum. Here is some information about the above procedures:

Noninvasive

Nonivasive treatment is a relaxing theraphy, which consists of cellullite wraps, facials and massage. This method of treatment is suitable for people of every age

Noninvasive treatment is considered by many as the safest method of cosmetic care. Unfortunately, this type of treatment mostly produce temporary result compared to more invasive method.

Minimally invasive

Minimally invasive treatment aims to even out skin tone, increase skin turnover, promote cell growth, remove unsightly veins or abnormal hair growth, and stimulate collagen production to help the skin retain its softness and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

The procedures include light chemical peeling, microdermabrasion, light based treatments – popular as laser treatments, and hair removal. This procedure should be done only in certified health care center, ideally under the supervision of a plastic surgeon.

Moderately invasive

These procedures are not a substitute for plastic surgery. The techniques involved are injection with Botox®, soft tissue fillers, laser skin resurfacing, deep chemical peels, nonsurgical skin tightening and cellulite treatments.

These treatments may last for a few months to years but they don’t provide the same long-lasting result of invasive techniques.

Surgical

Surgical procedure or invasive technique is an act of repositioning tissues, reducing unwanted body parts and restoring lost volume to rejuvenate body parts.

The most common surgical procedures in the United States can be grouped into:

·         Face – surgical repositioning and volume restoration

o        Facial rejuvenation – eyelid surgery, forehead lift, facelift, and necklift

o        Facial implants

o        Ear surgery and nose reshaping

·         Breast – breast lifts, augmentation, and reductions

·         Body contouring – liposuction, tummy tucks, and arm, thigh, and body lifts

Plastic surgeons underwent complicated education and training – one of the most complicated and lengthiest in the medical field, consisting of basic surgery, then progressing to aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, to provide a safe and superior medical service.

A plastic surgeon is a specially trained medical professional with the qualification in their lenghty and comprehensive education, to provide a wide continuum of care, ranging from noninvasive to surgical cosmetic medical procedure.
